Abstract

Žanrovski filmovi značajan su dio svjetske filmske baštine i važan su dio svake nacionalne kinematografije pa tako i hrvatske. U ovom radu izvršen je pregled dosadašnje povijesti domaćeg žanrovskog filma, a dana je posebna pozornost proteklom desetljeću nacionalne filmske industrije. S obzirom na to da je produciranje filmova kompleksan, iscrpan i višegodišnji pothvat, istaknuti filmski primjeri iz navedenog razdoblja predstavljaju pregled trenutnog stanja hrvatskog žanrovskog filma. Analiza relevantnih žanrovskih filmova iz navedenog razdoblja upotpunjena je pregledom komparativnih europskih filmskih industrija, kao i recentnim svjetskim i europskim trendovima u žanrovskom filmu. Za postizanje cjelovitog prikaza konteksta nastanka domaćeg žanrovskog filma izvršen je i višegodišnji pregled sustava javnog financiranja filma u hrvatskoj, kao i status žanrovskog filma u obrazovanju domaćih filmskih profesionalaca. Istaknuti su izazovi distribucije domaćeg filma, kao i podaci o gledateljskim navikama domaće publike. Cjelovita analiza stanja domaćeg žanrovskog filma, produkcijskih izazova i buduće perspektive zaključena je više platformskim prijedlozima za buduće politike razvoja.

Abstract (english)

Genre films are a significant part of the global cinematic heritage and play an essential role in every national film industry, including Croatia's. This thesis provides an overview of the historical development of domestic genre cinema, with particular attention given to the past decade within the national film industry. Recognizing that film production is a complex, exhaustive, and multi-year endeavor, prominent examples from this period serve as a snapshot of the current state of Croatian genre cinema. The analysis of relevant genre films from the aforementioned decade is complemented by examining comparative European film industries and recent global and European trends in genre cinema. To provide a comprehensive context for the emergence of domestic genre cinema, a mid-term review of the public film financing system in Croatia is conducted, as well as an exploration of the status of genre cinema in the education of local film professionals. Challenges in the distribution of domestic films are highlighted, along with insights into the viewing habits of the domestic audience. The comprehensive analysis of the state of domestic genre cinema, its production challenges, and future prospects is concluded with multi-platform recommendations for future development policies.
